PAINT TIPS
Scuff the inside of the body with steel wool or fine sandpaper (make sure you don't scuff the windows. I recommend putting on the window masks first)
Use denatured alcohol or soapy water to clean the inside of the body.
When cutting your body, use a sharp x-acto knife to scribe a line around the entire body line. You don't need to cut through the entire body. After you get your desired cutting area, now just bend the lexan until it comes appart where you made your line. This will result in a clean, almost perfect line, depending on how straight you can scribe a line.
Cut and drill all holes and wheel wells out prior to painting
Make sure you have a proper ventalation system
- Spray the the darker colors on first then the lighter ones
- Be creative and use other tools for special effects. An example would be to use a tooth brush dipped in paint to give you a splatter effect.
- Rub your fingernail over the ouside edge of all your masking to get the masking to stick well. This will keep all the paint from bleeding under your masking.
- Badger Foto/Fisket film works excellent (Do not apply any heat to your body when this type of masking is applied)
- Clear coat the inside of the body with clean enamel for scratch and water resistant coating.
- Use liquid masking on the irregular surfaces
- Back your colors with the recommended colors. If not, you may kill the fluorescents or change the hue of other colors. For most colors, use white or silver for your backing colors.
- Shadow some of your graphics, this will make them stand out and give some depth
- Keep your airbrush clean and experiment with air pressure to get the right paint/air flow combination.
- Take your time, this will result in nice sharp, clean lines
